What to Expect

Gatlinburg SkyBridge The SkyTrail is a scenic walkway that connects each end of the famous SkyBridge and provides guests with the opportunity to take a relaxing walk through the mountains. The trail is just over one-third of a mile long. That makes it short enough for all members of the family to enjoy. It is also pet-friendly so you can bring your dog along on the adventure! One of the best things about the new addition is it provides the same amazing views for those who do not want to venture out on the SkyBridge. Just to note, only the Elevated-Boardwalk section of the trail remains open after dark.

Three Unique Sections

The Gatlinburg SkyTrail is broken up into three different sections, each one providing different features and views. The Elevated-Boardwalk portion of the trail is a wooden walkway that cuts underneath the SkyBridge. During this part of the attraction, you will learn a lot about the construction of the SkyLift Park. Plus, never before seen details about the tragic wildfires that consumed much of the Smokies back in 2016. Fun fact, the area where the SkyTrail has been built was one of the hardest hit areas during the fires.

The next section of the trail you will come to is the Tulip Tower. It is a steel tower that is placed in the back of the ravine. To reach the top, you and your family will take one of two rope bridges. Once you reach the peak, you will be amazed by the glorious scene. During the trek, you will learn more about the history of The Tulip Tower and the Smoky Mountains. Last, but certainly not least, you have The Path. This is the non-boardwalk part of the trail that is cut into the natural hillside. This section of the hike is dedicated to the construction of the Gatlinburg SkyBridge, the longest pedestrian cable bridge in North America.
