4 Reasons to Visit The Old Mill Pottery House Café and Grille

The Old Mill Pottery House Cafe and Grille is often overlooked because many people don’t know how great it is! The main Old Mill Restaurant is incredibly popular with vacationers, but locals tend to love the Old Mill Cafe, especially for lunch. So, if you want to try them both, try The main Old Mill Restaurant for breakfast and stop by the Old Mill Pottery House Cafe and Grille for lunch or dinner! Here’s a few other reasons The Old Mill Pottery House Cafe and Grille is a great choice:

1. Experience the history of The Old Mill Pottery House Café and Grille

Of course, The Old Mill is a historic grist mill that was built in the early 1800s. It’s still in operation today and any of the meals and flours used in dishes at The Old Mill and The Old Mill Pottery House Cafe are made right on site at the grist mill. The Old Mill’s giant water wheel also helps with the flow of the Little Pigeon River, as you can see when you visit.

The Old Mill Pottery House Cafe and Grille is actually the former home of Pigeon River Pottery’s founding potter, Douglas Ferguson. Many of the structures in the restaurant are original.

2. Homemade country favorites for lunch and dinner!

The menu includes a great selection of items, including lighter options like salads and sandwiches, but they also serve heartier selections like steaks, burgers and pork chops. There’s something everyone will love at the restaurant, but don’t forget dessert! Homemade cakes and pies are available daily!

Not just the meals are handmade, though! All of the plates, bowls and even the salt shakers are handcrafted at Pigeon River Pottery (located right beside the Cafe).

3. Great area outside the restaurant to sit and relax

Right outside the Cafe, you will find a seating area. It has benches and a koi pond and beautiful wildflowers in the spring and summer seasons. So, before or after your meal, spend a little extra time enjoying the sights and sounds of the area for a little while.

4. Within walking distance to shops and The Old Mill Pottery House Café and Grille

Everything there is to do at The Old Mill is all located within walking distance of each other. After a meal, you’ll be just steps away from all of the shops at the Old Mill Square. This is where you’ll find Pigeon River Pottery, Old Mill Farmhouse Kitchen, Old Mill Creamery, Old Mill Candy Kitchen and more.
