                Golfing in the Smokies    
 

 
 The Great Smoky Mountains offers a beautiful landscape and various challenges for hikers, campers and those wishing to appreciate the backdrop of pristine nature. But this area also lends itself to some of the best golfing in the Southeast. Rolling mountains and valleys set the stage for challenging courses in a majestic setting. With an array of golfing options, the Smokies gives golfers of various skill levels an abundance of choices in a plethora of settings.
 

Playing Golf

 There are four local courses to choose from, as well as numerous options in the surrounding area. Within the county you can find River Island Golf Club, Eagles Landing Golf Club, Bent Creek Golf Village, and the Gatlinburg Municipal Golf Course. Each course offers a unique setting, as well as varying skill levels and distinct challenges.

 

 Bent Creek Golf Village is located in Gatlinburg, approximately 11 miles down 321 on the left. Southern Magazine rated Bent Creek as one of the top 50 courses in the south. Designed by three-time Masters and British Open Championship winner Gary Player, the front nine hugs the valley floor while the back nine careens through the mountainous terrain.  Gatlinburg Municipal Golf Course is ironically located in Pigeon Forge, just before Dollywood on the right side of Dollywood Lane. Designed by William Langford, this course offers some of the most amazing mountain holes around. The views will amaze you and the course will challenge you with a mixture of vertical drops, elevated greens and complex fairways. Playing Golf

 

 River Island is located in Sevierville, just off Hwy.66/ Winfield Dunn Parkway. Rated four-star by Golf Digest, it is the highest rated public course in the state of Tennessee. Designed by Arthur Hill, this course offers three natural island greens, as well as the French Broad River as interesting hazards. One of the most beautiful courses you will play on, River Island will challenge every aspect of your game.

 

 Eagle’s Landing is located in Sevierville on Old Knoxville Highway, which runs adjacent to Hwy. 66. Designed by D.J. DeVictor, this Championship course presents breathtaking views and tight fairways throughout its layout. Nominated in 1995 for Golf Digest’s “Best New Public Course,” it is the longest local course you can find. Offering an array of landscape, the course changes from hole to hole. You find yourself playing on a flat fairway one moment and then battling the hills the next.
